Yesterday was a touching farewell with my mentor Jannine Jans.
I finally made up my mind to carry out my module's program before entering summer's holiday in the next couple weeks.We had been chatting for hours while she prepared my evaluation report,opened pralines cute box which she got regulary from organizations,retailers,coleages or mostly graduated pupils.
I actually loved her class.Well it hadn't always been an easy time,working with industrial devices,automatic data transfer system and on top of it,it was about conditioning a position as a factory worker & its duty assignments based on time limit.
It was more about her who gave us so many view possibilites by learning the issues of how things work in confection's sector.Beside that,she has really sharp eyes.Amazingly without doubt her eyes enable her to find a tiny mistake within our work,by seeing it within 10 meters distance !
and in a quick time she ordered us to find a beter way to solve the problem,she gave detail explanation before she left the door in rush for a morning meeting.We were like..How..did she find it out ?? our mistake was just happened like 2 minutes ago..and that's was a really tiny spot !
Well, she had kept me shocking for about 7 months and that's kind of positive stimulating energizer though...
She was again comfirming her statement about a company where I worked for a short periode of job trainning which is now listed as a bad enterprise since investigation had finally done by Institution Consultant & Work Coalition.I wasn't surprised at all due to working condition I experienced by them so I just listened to her patiently.
I am not Kate Fletcher who explores fashion as a positive force towards sustainability,I just count on principles that I strongly believe should be proceeded in this century.Labour standart in supply chains is a repetative phenomena and It seems that my fashion background has been giving me quite conflicting situation these days.In a way I am engaging business practice in this field but the same time I am strongly supporting conduct guidelines to access the worldwide worker a better condition since we dare to say that textile industry is a complex,global, highly polluting issue.
We have heard about CCC- Clean Clothes Campaign which is started in the Netherlands in 1990.I find it great although we shouldn't forget that its strength comes from consumer power.It means we,us, the society who decide how far we could proceed the implementing codes into action.
It's been a sale' hits in all retails/haute couture shops since last week here in Belgium & I think it is held also in the rest of west european countries.I have no idea how customer should these days changes their mindset to consider fashion's term as a local wisdom.It's not because I just signed up a petition to Polo Ralph Lauren's CEO / Tommy Hilfiger - Senior Director of Global Compliance to support Indonesian worker according CCC's urgent appeals.
It's an essential point to indicate how we understand the problem by judging ourself on how and what we should actually guide our money.I don't say that Luxury fashion brands should be wasped away.The freaky customers wouldn't able to live without it since branded clothes have been lifting their social status.That's today's reality,isn't it ?
